First entry. It'll probably be weird and disjointed, hopefully not a sign of entries to come. Like the First season of Friends- the chemistry wasn't there, the jokes weren't funny, but it got better. And so, I hope, do I.

What's the other side of the fence? It's where the grass is greener, obviously. It's where I am now. As of today, I am a physician. I watched my husband get here and wanted to be here too. And now I am. I am a stay-at-home-mom. Wait... huh? Physician? Stay-at-home-mom? Yup. Today I graduated from medical school, but a few months ago I decided that I didn't really have an interest in leaving my baby for 80 hours a week to be beaten down by the medical system and increase both my medical knowledge and my hatred for all things medical. So I am embarking on an experimental year: what to do with a medical degree other than, well, practice medicine, OR do I want to go to residency? Which brings me to the final reason for being in this green, green grass. My son. I spent 3 1/2 years trying to become a mom, staring through the chain links at most of my friends frolicking playfully with their cherubic tots in the greenest of green fields and desperately wanting over there. I spent a rocky 9 months fearing the loss of the miraculous being growing inside of me. But, suddenly, he was here, I was transported into the green grass and unlike anything else in life, it is better than I could have hoped. And you see why I am staying home.

So I'll write about being a stay-at-home mom, MD, searching for direction. I'll write about what transpired in the 3 1/2 years that ultimately led to a successful pregnancy, and what happens next in that continuing saga. And so for now, adios, take 2 of something and call me in the morning.
